- Will my door be damaged when it is opened?
- Doors are opened without being destroyed wherever possible, using a careful technique known in French as « ouverture fine ». Your door frame is left in good condition once the locksmith has gone.
- Do you come out at night, at weekends and on public holidays?
- Yes. Emergency call-outs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including public holidays.
- What should I do after a break-in?
- The property is secured and the opening temporarily closed after a break-in. In 64% of burglaries a door was forced, or someone tried to force it (INSEE-ONDRP-SSMSI, Cadre de vie et sécurité surveys, 2016-2018).
- Are you insured?
- SV Serrurerie holds professional liability insurance covering material damage, along with the French ten-year structural guarantee on any work affecting the building.
- Is this going to cost me thousands?
- No. Opening a door costs no more than €200 during the day, and no more than €400 at night, on Sundays and on public holidays. Never thousands.
- Will I have to replace my door?
- No. A door is not replaced after being opened. At worst, the lock and cylinder are replaced.
- Will there be an extra charge once you are here?
- No. The price quoted on the phone includes VAT and I do not revise it, as long as it matches the problem you described. That is why I ask a few questions before quoting: people sometimes describe an ordinary door and I arrive to find a reinforced one.
